Himawari Chapter IV by Zoë Janice

Himawari, the flower of the sun, is back to brighten our landscape with its vivid yellow leaves. Marking the arrival of a new season, and with that, a new Maha Moods mixtape. This time around, we invited the sunny and talented Zoë Janice to create a refreshing mix that helps you beat the heat during the summer season.

Choosing sounds very close to her, Zoë infused Future Beats with Alternative Hip Hop for this energising mix. Stepping away from the Afrobeats and Amapiano sounds that she is most well-known for. Sit back, relax, press play, and get your summer mood on!

Sit back, relax, press play, and beat the heat with this sunny mix by Zoë Janice.

- Summer - Iced out summer – Ragz Originale
This song recently came out, and its been having me in a chokehold ever since. Something I really like to do while listening to music is driving a car with the volume all the way up. Especially with this song right here.

- Precious memory - Guru's Jazzmatazz, Vol. 1
This entire album reminds me of my childhood. My mom played this record heavily when I was growing up in The Hague.

- Nostalgic - Terry Dexter – Lay me down
When I entered my teenage years, I went to the beach many times during summer. This song always brings me back to a particular night when I biked home from the beach after seeing a sunset while playing this track from my iPod Classic.

- Heartbreak - Elmiene – Golden
This song gives me the chills. I heard it for the first time during Virgil Abloh’s final runway show, which I watched live. It has such a beautiful meaning that will make you reflect on life.

- Lovesong - Cleo Sol – When I'm In Your Arms
Besides the title, the sound of this song already makes you feel like you are being hugged. It came out during Covid, which was a time for me to reconnect with myself and others.

- Party - Stoko – soa matrix
Since Amapiano is finally taking over the rest of the world, I chose this track because it always puts me in a good mood and makes me want to dance.
